Summary: Selecting and interpreting a CAPD test battery that is appropriate to the individual patient is critical to securing much-needed services and achieving positive outcomes. Many audiologists use a standardized, normative-scored CAPD test battery rather than a test battery driven by specific patient characteristics because they do not know how to appropriately select a comprehensive test battery or because of beliefs that testing cannot be performed for certain populations (e.g., children younger than age 7). This session will discuss tips for putting together patient-driven testing options, including how to administer and score them. Summary: This course is the first in a set of practical programs that address specific aspects of remote practice (telepractice) in audiology. This initial course explores audiologists' perceptions of barriers to providing telehealth services and introduces the Health Belief Model (HBM) and Transtheoretical model to assess readiness for remote service provision. Summary: Adults who are deaf or hard or hearing, as well as families of children with hearing conditions, often report that they struggle to understand the results of hearing assessments, make decisions about next steps, and convey the outcomes and implications to others. This course introduces the Ida Institute's new conversation guide, My Hearing Explained, a tool to help hearing care professionals (both audiologists and SLPs specializing in hearing care) present hearing test results in a person-centered way and help patients and their families make decisions that are right for them.

Summary: This course includes three recorded sessions from the 2016 online conference "Maximizing Functional Outcomes for Patients With Dementia." These sessions focus on working with all the stakeholders involved in treating patients with dementia – the individual, family members and other caregivers, and all the health care professionals involved in the person’s care. Sessions discuss caregiver counseling and support, helping patients with hearing loss, and a specific model for interdisciplinary care.
