Summary: As the professional landscape continues to evolve, audiologists and speech-language pathologists must provide high-quality, skilled services while at the same time serving a greater number of individuals and demonstrating the value of the services they provide. Summary: Selecting and interpreting a CAPD test battery that is appropriate to the individual patient is critical to securing much-needed services and achieving positive outcomes. Many audiologists use a standardized, normative-scored CAPD test battery rather than a test battery driven by specific patient characteristics because they do not know how to appropriately select a comprehensive test battery or because of beliefs that testing cannot be performed for certain populations (e.g., children younger than age 7). This session will discuss tips for putting together patient-driven testing options, including how to administer and score them. Summary: This course is the first in a set of practical programs that address specific aspects of remote practice (telepractice) in audiology. This initial course explores audiologists' perceptions of barriers to providing telehealth services and introduces the Health Belief Model (HBM) and Transtheoretical model to assess readiness for remote service provision. Summary: Older adults must make important decisions about their end-of-life care, and those with hearing and other communication disorders need special accommodations to participate in these important decisions to the fullest extent possible. This session discusses the communication needs of patients in the final stages of life, including the use of various hearing technologies, such as hearing aids, personal sound amplifiers, and pocket talkers. Summary: This recorded session from the ASHA Audiology 2022 Online Conference provides a comprehensive overview of today's modern and highly sensitive neurodiagnostic vestibular tests, including rotary chair, cervical and ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMP), and video Head Impulse Testing (vHIT), as well as postural stability assessments. The presenters discuss how integrating these tests creates a diagnosis-based strategy that provides the team of diagnostic and rehabilitation professionals with direction and guidance as to the best vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) strategies for the individual patient. The session includes video examples of the range of VRT strategies, including adaptation and habituation.
