Summary: This is the first in a two-part course is designed to bring you comprehensive information on cleft palate assessment and treatment. From glottal stops to learned nasal emission, this course will help you hone your knowledge and clinical practice skills in assessing speech disorders associated with cleft palate/VPI. The speaker will discuss procedures and techniques, and share audio and video clips to demonstrate how to assess the variety and uniqueness of speech deviations seen in cleft palate cases. You’ll also learn how to distinguish “learned” from “obligatory”/physically based problems.

Summary: This recorded session from the ASHA Audiology 2022 Online Conference provides a comprehensive overview of today's modern and highly sensitive neurodiagnostic vestibular tests, including rotary chair, cervical and ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMP), and video Head Impulse Testing (vHIT), as well as postural stability assessments. The presenters discuss how integrating these tests creates a diagnosis-based strategy that provides the team of diagnostic and rehabilitation professionals with direction and guidance as to the best vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) strategies for the individual patient. The session includes video examples of the range of VRT strategies, including adaptation and habituation.

Summary: This presentation highlights case studies exhibiting the SLP's role in assessing and treating previously healthy toddlers with disorders of consciousness in the acute rehab setting. These case studies demonstrate the opportunities and challenges of utilizing the pediatric Coma Recovery Scale when assessing these patients, the relationship between emerging oral motor skills and cognition, and treatment approaches for returning to PO intake in this population. Finally, these case studies highlight how interdisciplinary collaboration is one of the keys to success with this patient population.

Summary: This on demand webinar will guide SLPs in knowing what to listen for in the speech and resonance of children with cleft palate, cleft lip and palate, and/or velopharyngeal dysfunction and will discuss how to differentiate active, passive, and adaptive articulations. The speaker will address how to decide what to treat with speech interventions vs. what requires treatment from the medical team and will review evidence-based intervention techniques.
