However, for 2023, Medicare removed the physician's order requirement in a way that has the potential to improve access to care for Medicare beneficiaries but also includes some limitations. Summary: The lived experiences of neurodivergent adolescents and adults reveal that changes are needed in how SLPs approach social communication assessment and intervention. Client-centered protocols for assessing social communication must address two goals: the needs of the student, and the perspectives and behaviors of the student's peers that support or hinder social interactions. Summary: This session describes a research investigation of speech recognition in quiet and noise in thousands of patients with varying degrees of hearing loss. Based on the data, the speaker provides clinical recommendations in which speech recognition in noise can become the default test of speech perception in routine audiologic assessment, and word recognition in quiet is only performed when it is likely to be suboptimal.
