Summary: Published research indicates that outcomes in children with hearing loss are generally lower than their hearing counterparts. Given the cascading effects auditory deprivation and language delays may cause in children, providing differential diagnoses can present a challenge. This course identifies commonly occurring comorbid presentations in children with hearing loss and describes the process of making differential diagnoses.

The speaker reviews the main types of bias that can potentially influence our thinking about who is and is not a candidate for a hearing aid. Summary: Young musicians are exposed to traumatic sound levels that might increase their risk for tinnitus and noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL). Music and noise are known environmental risk factors for tinnitus and NIHL. This course examines a hypothesis that genetic variants might further explain clinical heterogeneity in tinnitus and NIHL.
