Summary: A culturally responsive approach to support clients and families from all backgrounds begins with understanding and meeting them where they are. Summary: This session introduces a language intervention program for middle and high school students-Philosophy for Adolescents-that is designed to support critical thinking, narrative and expository discourse, and the use of complex syntax and literate vocabulary such as abstract nouns and metacognitive verbs. Summary: Published research indicates that outcomes in children with hearing loss are generally lower than their hearing counterparts. Given the cascading effects auditory deprivation and language delays may cause in children, providing differential diagnoses can present a challenge. This course identifies commonly occurring comorbid presentations in children with hearing loss and describes the process of making differential diagnoses.

Summary: Many clinicians may feel they lack the time, skills, or competence to effectively address diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI); it might feel like one more thing on an already-long list of considerations and requirements. But if we focus on our passion for working with people and change our perspective about providing culturally responsive services, then it's not more work, it is the work. This course discusses the value of addressing DEI as part of audiology and SLP services and provides practical ideas for doing so.

Summary: This session addresses the management of pediatric vestibular and balance disorders. Particular focus is paid to the characteristics of pediatric patients who would likely benefit from vestibular and balance therapy, the focus of such therapy, and the types of exercises done to target vestibular-related impairments in children.
