Using Theme-Based Intervention in Telepractice: Promoting Speech and Language Development in Toddlers and Preschoolers (PD102800)

Course Description

This session provides a theme-based intervention framework for SLPs who work with toddlers and preschoolers via telepractice. The session begins with a review of the evidence for using theme-based intervention to promote communication development. Next, it discusses best practices for using appropriate technology, selecting toys and digital materials that incorporate themes, and formatting telepractice sessions to keep toddlers and preschoolers engaged while addressing their goals. Finally, it shares tools for successful planning and documentation, allowing participants to leave the session with the knowledge and confidence to begin using themes in your telepractice service delivery immediately.

Presenter Information

Adrienne Wallace, MBA, MS, CCC-SLP, owns Online Speech Services LLC, which provides online communication coaching, speech therapy, and resources for parents and SLPs. Using over 10 years of experience in telepractice, Wallace also created a telepractice blog, Telepractice Tools, and provides consulting, webinars, online courses, and materials to help others add telepractice to their service delivery offerings. Wallace is also an adjunct instructor at Fairleigh Dickinson University and Montclair State University, teaching courses in management and entrepreneurship.
