Summary: The field of audiology focuses mostly on the peripheral auditory system-in both diagnosis and management-but other factors (e.g., "hidden hearing loss" and/or reduced cognitive ability) may play a role in an individual's ability to communicate in diverse environments. Summary: Emerging treatment approaches for age-related hearing loss include alternative interventions aimed at ameliorating symptoms and slowing down or even preventing hearing loss, in contrast with current treatment approaches, which focus primarily on amplification and communication strategies. This session will explore up-and-coming approaches, such as pre-clinical investigation of hormones (e.g., Aldosterone) correlated with auditory function; medicinal-related interventions; and challenges to timelines to bring new treatments to market.

Summary: Teleaudiology is demonstrating potential to make hearing care more accessible and affordable. The COVID-19 pandemic further highlighted digital solutions for remote care not as a convenience but as an essential tool for safe health access. This course reviews basic concepts underlying teleaudiology and explores current trends and future directions in this rapidly changing space. A range of new trends in digital audiology, including novel technologies and service-delivery models, are explored with consideration of future directions.

Summary: This course explores the most commonly fit devices for patients whose hearing is significantly poorer in one ear than the other (e.g., single-sided deafness or asymmetric hearing loss) and identify factors that impact device selection and hearing management. Summary: This session will examine the diagnosis and treatment of persistent postural-perceptual dizziness (PPPD). The session will explore the recently defined criteria for the presentation and symptoms of the disorder as well as describe current and emerging research that is helping clinicians and researchers better understand it. The speaker will also discuss how chronic co-morbid disorders such as migraine and Meniere’s disease should be factored into the treatment of this disorder.
