Credit(s): PDHs: 0.5, ASHA CEUs*: 0.05
Summary: Many of the static assessments administered by speech-language pathologists have some degree of cultural assumptions and are often limited in representing diverse groups. This course provides strategies to assess standardized assessments' cultural and linguistic sensitivity and provides guidance for the use of alternative assessment options.
Presenter(s): Kelly Farquharson, PhD, CCC-SLP

Summary: This session discusses practical strategies to adapt speech sound disorder assessment, treatment, and collaborative practices to appropriately determine educational need in line with federal and state laws and regulations. The speaker reviews three case studies of elementary-age children who have an impairment in speech sound production: one in which a student exhibits academic need, one in which a student exhibits social-emotional need, and one in which a student exhibits neither. This course is a recorded session from the 2020/2021 online conference “Practical Solutions for Elementary Assessment, Treatment, and Collaboration.”
Presenter(s): Ruchi Kapila, MS, CCC-SLP

Summary: Focusing on the perspectives of transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) individuals and communities, this session explores ways SLPs who currently--or aspire to--provide voice and communication services to TGNC individuals can better meet the holistic needs of this client population.

Credit(s): PDHs: 2.0, ASHA CEUs*: 0.2
Summary: This on demand webinar will define and discuss developmental language disorder (DLD) as it relates to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) regulations. The speaker will explore curriculum-based language assessment methods aligned to grade-level academic standards and share evidence-based interventions to treat DLD in early childhood and elementary school settings.
Presenter(s): Hope S Lancaster, PhD; Katherine R Gordon, PhD; Ron Pomper, PhD; Allyssa LaRose, MS, CCC-SLP

Summary: Children with developmental language disorder (DLD) can demonstrate a range of characteristics and challenges, which can appear not only in their language abilities but also in their cognitive and motor abilities. This on demand webinar will give SLPs a deeper understanding of the common characteristics associated with DLD as well as individual differences among children with the disorder. The webinar will share examples of how to tailor vocabulary and reading interventions for children with DLD.
Presenter(s): Elizabeth (Liz) Delsandro, MS, CCC-SLP; Kathryn Basco, MA, CCC-SLP
Credit(s): PDHs: 2.0, ASHA CEUs*: 0.2
Summary: This on demand webinar explores provision of SLP services for preschool and school-age children with mild to moderate impairment in their development as a result of early medical diagnoses and experiences such as premature birth, congenital anomalies, and chronic medical conditions. The speakers discuss the impact of early diagnoses or disorders on children’s future development; the developmental outcomes for these children; and strategies and tools to support these children and their families.
Presenter(s): Joseph Sakumura, AuD; Richard E Gans, PhD, CCC-A
Credit(s): PDHs: 1.0, ASHA CEUs*: 0.1
Summary: This recorded session from the ASHA Audiology 2022 Online Conference provides a comprehensive overview of today's modern and highly sensitive neurodiagnostic vestibular tests, including rotary chair, cervical and ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMP), and video Head Impulse Testing (vHIT), as well as postural stability assessments. The presenters discuss how integrating these tests creates a diagnosis-based strategy that provides the team of diagnostic and rehabilitation professionals with direction and guidance as to the best vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) strategies for the individual patient. The session includes video examples of the range of VRT strategies, including adaptation and habituation.
Presenter(s): Memorie M Gosa, PhD, CCC-SLP, BCS-S

Summary: Diet texture modification-specifically, thickening of liquid consistencies-is often recommended to compensate for dysphagia in pediatric populations due to their physical and cognitive immaturity. This session discusses the evidence in support of this popular management recommendation and explores the many variables that can impact its effectiveness. The speaker presents strategies that SLPs can implement in their clinical practice to mitigate undesirable consequences of texture modification in the pediatric population.

Summary: There is evidence that many factors contribute to the varied performance outcomes among pediatric cochlear implant (CI) recipients, including etiology and quality of the electrode neuron interfaces (ENI). This course examines a study that investigated the intersection of these factors by analyzing the records and device settings for 156 children with confirmed diagnoses of either enlarged vestibular aqueduct (EVA) or Connexin-26 mutations.
Presenter(s): Noma B Anderson, PhD
