Summary: This recorded session from the ASHA Audiology 2022 Online Conference provides a comprehensive overview of today's modern and highly sensitive neurodiagnostic vestibular tests, including rotary chair, cervical and ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMP), and video Head Impulse Testing (vHIT), as well as postural stability assessments. The presenters discuss how integrating these tests creates a diagnosis-based strategy that provides the team of diagnostic and rehabilitation professionals with direction and guidance as to the best vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) strategies for the individual patient. Individuals with hearing loss report miscommunication, inaccessible health information, reduced awareness by health care providers, and low patient satisfaction while struggling with inadequate health literacy. Summary: Older adults must make important decisions about their end-of-life care, and those with hearing and other communication disorders need special accommodations to participate in these important decisions to the fullest extent possible. This session discusses the communication needs of patients in the final stages of life, including the use of various hearing technologies, such as hearing aids, personal sound amplifiers, and pocket talkers. The presenters discuss tools to facilitate conversations among patients, family members, and caregivers.
