Summary: SLPs need to combine their understanding of physiology with multiple related factors to determine if an instrumental exam is needed, which exam is indicated, when it is needed, and why. Then they must effectively explain recommendations and findings to the patient, family, and other team members. Summary: Each adult with dysphagia presents with unique characteristics, each setting provides different challenges, and each treatment team functions in different ways.
