Summary: This session describes predictors of hearing aid use time for adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) as well as activities that target self-advocacy in this population. Summary: This session describes a research investigation of speech recognition in quiet and noise in thousands of patients with varying degrees of hearing loss. Based on the data, the speaker provides clinical recommendations in which speech recognition in noise can become the default test of speech perception in routine audiologic assessment, and word recognition in quiet is only performed when it is likely to be suboptimal.

Summary: Neurodivergent SLPs (including those with dyslexia, ADHD, anxiety, autism, etc.) have unique insights and expertise, making them invaluable assets for fostering client-centered care within speech-language pathology practice. Summary: This recorded session from the ASHA Audiology 2022 Online Conference provides a comprehensive overview of today's modern and highly sensitive neurodiagnostic vestibular tests, including rotary chair, cervical and ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMP), and video Head Impulse Testing (vHIT), as well as postural stability assessments. The presenters discuss how integrating these tests creates a diagnosis-based strategy that provides the team of diagnostic and rehabilitation professionals with direction and guidance as to the best vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) strategies for the individual patient. The session includes video examples of the range of VRT strategies, including adaptation and habituation.

Summary: Audiologists help to diagnose or rule out vestibular disorders and make recommendations for referrals and treatment. As part of treatment, quality of life must be discussed. This presentation discusses the current diagnostic criteria used for vestibular migraine, symptoms, assessment protocols, and treatment options. The speaker reviews the relationship between vertiginous migraines and Meniere's disease and addresses considerations for pediatric patients.

Summary: This presentation describes the case of a 48-year-old female presenting with vertigo and disequilibrium consistent with mal de debarquement (MdDS) following a weeklong vacation cruise. MRI images, audiometric, and vestibular results are presented, as well as an in-depth review of MdDS and Chiari malformation and their impact on vestibular function and quality of life.

Summary: This session will examine the diagnosis and treatment of persistent postural-perceptual dizziness (PPPD). The session will explore the recently defined criteria for the presentation and symptoms of the disorder as well as describe current and emerging research that is helping clinicians and researchers better understand it. The speaker will also discuss how chronic co-morbid disorders such as migraine and Meniere’s disease should be factored into the treatment of this disorder.
