Summary: Inclusion and reporting of clinical research participants from all backgrounds is the cornerstone to developing representative screening, assessment, and treatment models. One way to address the challenges of including a diverse group of participants is by developing community-based research partnerships. This on demand webinar (available beginning November 8, 2024) will discuss the importance of such partnerships as well as strategies to develop and maintain them.

Summary: The dynamic profession of audiology includes unique settings and equipment, some of which introduce safety concerns, such as communication challenges specific to working in an isolated space. These challenges are important to address in view of increased violence in the health care workplace. Audiologists may lack information and resources to discuss and address their unique concerns. Summary: This session discusses a project that established a cross-sector national consortium of self-advocates with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), family advocates, community providers, and health care professionals. The consortium guides and evaluates an environmental scan and literature review on best practices in educating health care professional students in the care of persons with IDD, including health care professional students addressing communication disorders.

Summary: Live captioning systems can be used in schools, clinical health/therapy settings, restaurants, banks, and other settings where captioning services are difficult to obtain or simply not available. This session identifies issues limiting the use of these systems, proposes solutions, and provides best practice suggestions for how to deploy universally accessible captioning, note-taking, and translation systems in all situations.

Summary: This course describes a study that utilizes a multiple baseline across behaviors design to investigate the efficacy of a caregiver training intervention to increase the use of targeted facilitative language techniques (FLTs)—strategies that caregivers use to encourage language development in their children. This study utilizes telehealth to deliver a training program for caregivers of children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
