Summary: There are many possible causes for childhood dizziness, which differs from adult dizziness. Summary: This recorded session from the ASHA Audiology 2022 Online Conference examines the state of the literature supporting clinical decision-making about pediatric hearing aid candidacy. The speaker reviews the main types of bias that can potentially influence our thinking about who is and is not a candidate for a hearing aid. The session presents practical strategies for increasing the use of objective criteria in the clinic when assessing hearing aid candidacy and for knowing when a hearing aid may not be the right choice, with emphasis on the use of audibility as a counseling tool and in support of candidacy conversations with families of children with hearing loss.

Summary: Live captioning systems can be used in schools, clinical health/therapy settings, restaurants, banks, and other settings where captioning services are difficult to obtain or simply not available. Summary: SLPs and audiologists alike may struggle to implement evidence-based practice (EBP) into their daily practice because they simply don’t have the time or resources to keep up with a rapidly growing research base. ASHA’s Evidence Maps serve as a time-saving, free, online tool that provides clinicians with a quick synopsis of synthesized research related to clinical practice. New and experienced users of the Evidence Maps will learn the ins and outs of features and navigation via a case study and guided practice to better locate and assess relevant research evidence to integrate into clinical decision-making.
