Summary: This session presents a review of the empirical uses of experimenter-created morphological awareness assessment tasks found in recent literature. The presenter summarizes assessments by type of morphemes assessed, type of morphological task employed, intended age ranges, and possible administration modes. Summary: SLPs are increasingly involved in the care of patients with head and neck cancer. Summary: This course focuses on emerging research and changing practices in the management of dysphagia as it relates to aspiration pneumonia prevention and oral care. The presenters review the contribution of oral biofilms to bacterial aspiration pneumonia and systemic health, and discuss the genesis and treatments for aspiration pneumonia. The course describes the national VA deployment of a pneumonia prevention initiative and provides practical instruction in the development of an oral care program participants can use to implement a program in their own facility.

Summary: Language is a highly complex human behavior, and yet SLPs often are expected to assess children for language disorders by administering a single, standardized test. However, this "one-size-fits-all" approach often yields inadequate results. This webinar will describe steps to help SLPs develop clear rationales and clinical decision-making strategies to assess fundamental language skills more effectively and facilitate intervention planning.
