Summary: This course is the first in a set of practical programs that address specific aspects of remote practice (telepractice) in audiology. This initial course explores audiologists' perceptions of barriers to providing telehealth services and introduces the Health Belief Model (HBM) and Transtheoretical model to assess readiness for remote service provision. The course includes an on-demand recording and a worksheet activity/tool to help you identify needs and barriers as you consider how you can incorporate teleaudiology into your practice.

Summary: This course focuses on social-emotional learning milestones and current trends in research regarding social-emotional learning for children who are deaf or hard of hearing relative to peers with typical hearing. A research team reports on findings from a survey of caregivers of children with hearing loss regarding their knowledge, ratings, and facilitation of social-emotional learning in their children.

Summary: This presentation describes the case of a 48-year-old female presenting with vertigo and disequilibrium consistent with mal de debarquement (MdDS) following a weeklong vacation cruise. MRI images, audiometric, and vestibular results are presented, as well as an in-depth review of MdDS and Chiari malformation and their impact on vestibular function and quality of life.

Summary: Trauma-informed care is a patient-care model that acknowledges the prevalence of trauma and its impact in our society. By incorporating trauma-informed practices, we can increase patient engagement and efficacy of care. Summary: Older adults must make important decisions about their end-of-life care, and those with hearing and other communication disorders need special accommodations to participate in these important decisions to the fullest extent possible. This session discusses the communication needs of patients in the final stages of life, including the use of various hearing technologies, such as hearing aids, personal sound amplifiers, and pocket talkers. The presenters discuss tools to facilitate conversations among patients, family members, and caregivers.

Summary: This course includes three recorded sessions from the 2016 online conference "Maximizing Functional Outcomes for Patients With Dementia." These sessions focus on working with all the stakeholders involved in treating patients with dementia – the individual, family members and other caregivers, and all the health care professionals involved in the person’s care. Summary: This recorded session from the ASHA Audiology 2022 Online Conference provides a comprehensive overview of today's modern and highly sensitive neurodiagnostic vestibular tests, including rotary chair, cervical and ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMP), and video Head Impulse Testing (vHIT), as well as postural stability assessments. The presenters discuss how integrating these tests creates a diagnosis-based strategy that provides the team of diagnostic and rehabilitation professionals with direction and guidance as to the best vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) strategies for the individual patient. The session includes video examples of the range of VRT strategies, including adaptation and habituation.
