Summary: This on demand webinar will explore the special education process from referral to dismissal under the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) as it relates to students with speech-language disorders. The speaker will discuss the role of the SLP, response to intervention (RTI) strategies, and the development of IEPs with specific goals to meet the individual needs of students. The webinar will discuss principles and rules from the ASHA Code of Ethics that support ethical decision-making throughout the process.

Summary: Older adults must make important decisions about their end-of-life care, and those with hearing and other communication disorders need special accommodations to participate in these important decisions to the fullest extent possible. This session discusses the communication needs of patients in the final stages of life, including the use of various hearing technologies, such as hearing aids, personal sound amplifiers, and pocket talkers.
