Summary: Individuals who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) have specific communication needs relevant to accessing mental health care. This webinar will delve into this vital area of care, providing actionable strategies and next steps to SLPs who work with AAC users, regardless of your familiarity with the arena of mental health access. The speakers will identify issues and describe the lived experiences of AAC users who have accessed mental health services. The webinar will address barriers and practical solutions to mental health care access as well as accommodations for people who use AAC. They will also discuss the SLP's role in facilitating communication in a mental health setting as part of an interdisciplinary approach.

Summary: Despite the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 stating that people with disabilities should have access to their communities, a critical component has often been overlooked—training emergency first responders to communicate with people who have complex communication needs. Summary: This recorded session from the ASHA Audiology 2022 Online Conference provides a comprehensive overview of today's modern and highly sensitive neurodiagnostic vestibular tests, including rotary chair, cervical and ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMP), and video Head Impulse Testing (vHIT), as well as postural stability assessments. The presenters discuss how integrating these tests creates a diagnosis-based strategy that provides the team of diagnostic and rehabilitation professionals with direction and guidance as to the best vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) strategies for the individual patient.
