Summary: The Joint Committee on Infant Hearing (JCIH) was established to develop evidence-based guidelines for supporting infants and young children who are deaf or hard of hearing. In 2019, the JCIH published an updated position statement based on expertise from stakeholder groups – including audiologists, SLPs, pediatricians, early intervention providers, otolaryngologists, and professionals from the Deaf community. This course describes the major changes in the JCIH position statement as well as clinical implications for any professional involved in serving children who are deaf or hard of hearing and their families. This course – part of the SIGnature Series – was developed by SIG 9: Hearing and Hearing Disorders in Childhood.

Summary: This on demand webinar presents a framework for assisting teens and adults in the design and implementation of stuttering intervention. The course is based on the concept that meaningful stuttering intervention and outcomes are based in the client's and clinician's shared understanding of the importance and weight that the client places on changing the physical attributes of stuttering, their thoughts and feelings about it, their use of avoidance strategies, and how ready they are to change one or all of these components.

Summary: This session describes the value of interprofessional practice (IPP) on a pediatric FEES (flexible [or fiberoptic] endoscopic evaluation of swallowing) team. Summary: This on demand webinar will explore the use of videostroboscopy and videoendoscopy to inform assessment and management of voice disorders (e.g., identification of physical factors, vocal technique factors, hygiene issues, stimulability testing, etc.). The speakers will describe stroboscopic technique, including scientific underpinnings and limitations, as well as discuss rating forms/scales, assessment protocols, and practice ratings to support clinicians’ decision-making regarding videostroboscopy. Summary: This course focuses on a meaning-based approach to language assessment and intervention for intentional communication skills in young children. The nonlinguistic and linguistic context support meaning-driven communication expressed with language form from the child. Speakers discuss language sample analysis and the developmental hierarchy of Language Content/Form/Use, and highlight how this approach is less biased than norm-based assessments when used with children from culturally and linguistically diverse contexts.
