Summary: Early childhood is a critical period for auditory, language, and cognitive development, and early identification of permanent hearing loss provides the opportunity for children to receive appropriate and timely intervention and educational services. When children are identified late, they are at increased risk of permanent speech, language, and educational delays. The first article discusses the primary components of a parent-implemented language intervention for children with fragile X syndrome. The third article describes the key components and modifications that can be utilized in narrative interventions when working with individuals that are diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
