Summary: This course presents a methodology that allows audiologists to provide (central) auditory processing testing remotely. Summary: The global COVID-19 pandemic has introduced a level of disruption into our personal and professional lives that was previously unimaginable. How we respond will be a deciding factor for the future success of our practices. This session will explore how to embrace change and use this unique opportunity to rethink how we provide and promote our services. The speaker will discuss specific ways audiologists who operate private practices can clearly articulate their distinctive role in the hearing health marketplace and be prepared for future interruptions such as pandemics, big box stores, online retailers, and personal indecision.

Summary: The articles in this course present models for increasing equity and inclusion across our discipline. Girolamo and Ghali introduce a student-led grassroots initiative that supports minority students at all levels. Mohapatra and Mohan propose a model for increasing student diversity and inclusion based on successful programs from other health-related disciplines. Finally, Mishra et al. examine three challenges that faculty of color face: cultural competency, imposter syndrome, and racial microaggressions.

Summary: It is incumbent upon each member of a patient's health care team to play a role in ensuring a safer medication use experience based on basic principles regarding polypharmacy. Summary: Trauma-informed care is a patient-care model that acknowledges the prevalence of trauma and its impact in our society. By incorporating trauma-informed practices, we can increase patient engagement and efficacy of care. Summary: This course explores factors that contribute to health inequities for individuals who report a hearing loss. Individuals with hearing loss report miscommunication, inaccessible health information, reduced awareness by health care providers, and low patient satisfaction while struggling with inadequate health literacy. The course discusses ideas for rethinking and redesigning our health care, through the guidance of innovative clinics and programs, to address these inequities and care for these individuals effectively.

Summary: This presentation describes the evidence and future directions for research, practice, and policy to address factors that contribute to disparities in care between minority and non-minority patients. A growing body of evidence demonstrates that persons living with all types of communication disabilities experience disparities in the receipt of high-quality health care services.
