Summary: A challenge in conducing dynamic assessment - an alternative to standardized testing that accounts for individuals' unique cultural and linguistic identities - is putting together all the information to make a clinical decision. In this course - which is broken into six 5-minute blocks - speaker Elizabeth Peña discusses using dynamic assessment to identify indicators of language difference and language disorder and how to incorporate this information into a clinical report and intervention plan. Peña gives examples and guides you through making recommendations about intervention based on dynamic assessment results.

Summary: Health care providers' attitudes toward and skills communicating with people with communication disabilities may affect patients' health care outcomes. This session presents research that suggests providers are aware of these inequities but lack skills and confidence to address them. Summary: The application of multiple swallow maneuvers is often a mainstay of dysphagia intervention, but the role of the maneuver and its effect on swallow rehabilitation outcomes are not always clear. Summary: While telepractice and tele-AAC services are often thought of as real-time services provided directly to an individual, asynchronous tele-AAC services that include highly individualized and clinically relevant content can be quite effective also. This course explores tele-AAC services as a continuum of support, highlighting the dynamic role of asynchronous tele-AAC in supporting not only the individual (with implementation and generalization, in particular) but also essential stakeholders, including communication partners. Summary: The experience of trauma or re-traumatization during a person's rehab stay can result in physical, psychological, and emotional health conditions, and can also impede therapeutic rapport, the patient's feelings of safety, and the overall healing and recovery process. Summary: This on demand webinar will explore the use of videostroboscopy and videoendoscopy to inform assessment and management of voice disorders (e.g., identification of physical factors, vocal technique factors, hygiene issues, stimulability testing, etc.). The speakers will describe stroboscopic technique, including scientific underpinnings and limitations, as well as discuss rating forms/scales, assessment protocols, and practice ratings to support clinicians’ decision-making regarding videostroboscopy.
