Summary: This course describes the various ways that a head and neck cancer diagnosis can impact mental health, and ways to identify when a patient may need to seek professional help from a mental health specialist. Summary: Dysphagia may be caused by many underlying medical etiologies, and the hospital-based SLP must navigate a comprehensive world of medical diagnoses and be prepared to accurately evaluate and plan dysphagia treatment. Summary: SLPs who work with people with dysphagia face the challenge of identifying food textures and liquid consistencies that will optimize swallowing safety and efficiency while minimizing negative consequences on quality of life and nutrition. This session features case-based opportunities to practice the skills involved in determining when and how texture modification can be used to improve swallowing outcomes.
