Summary: In many instances, SLPs who look to venture into entrepreneurship face the question of how to structure their business. Should I lease or purchase a brick and mortar office? Should I recruit employees vs. subcontractors? What is my target client population? Should I accept insurance? This session discusses various strategies that you can implement to answer these questions and diversify your new or established practice.

Summary: This course describes the various ways that a head and neck cancer diagnosis can impact mental health, and ways to identify when a patient may need to seek professional help from a mental health specialist. The speaker highlights how a speech-language pathologist can assist in the detection of a potential mental health disorder through use of mental health screenings and head-and-neck-specific quality-of-life measures, and discusses considerations for addressing mental health and effectively navigating challenges that may impede success during treatment and/or rehabilitation.

Summary: A better understanding is needed of the barriers and facilitators in accessing communication services by gender diverse individuals. This session describes a conceptual model of health care access and shows its use in developing a group solution to improve gender expansive individuals' access of communication services.
