Summary: This SIG 1 activity focuses on evidence-based practices in literacy related to word reading, morphology, and vocabulary. The first article highlights the relationship between literacy and vocabulary learning and provides a tutorial on treatment options for vocabulary-based interventions for children with identified vocabulary deficits. The second article describes the developmental sequence of alphabet knowledge and demonstrates how to address this knowledge within three different service delivery modules. Summary: This on demand webinar explores methods and strategies that school-based SLPs can use to improve educational access for populations identified as at-risk for being entangled in the school-to-confinement pipeline. The course supports SLPs in identifying key features and implications of the school-to-confinement pipeline by examining historical, legal, philosophical, and sociocultural factors that contribute to it. Summary: This journal self-study course is composed of papers from the 7th Aging and Speech Communication Conference (April 2019). The articles cover a range of topics about speech processing in normal aging, including changes in auditory pathways and cortical structures in older adults with and without hearing loss; the relationship between cognitive skills and hearing performance in older adults; speech perception of older and younger adults when certain linguistic factors are manipulated; and age-related effects of processing accented speech in native and non-native speakers.
