Teleaudiology: Providing Pediatric Audiology Services via Telehealth (PD102403)

Presenter(s): Tommy Evans, AuD, CCC-A
Course Description

This course demonstrates how Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is using telehealth applications to address the needs of children with hearing loss during the COVID-19 pandemic and into the future, including remote hearing aid evaluations, fittings, programming, repairs, and functional benefit assessments.

The course is one in a set of practical programs that address specific aspects of remote practice in audiology.

Learning Outcomes
You will be able to:

  • List procedures in your pediatric clinical practice that could be completed using telemedicine (e.g., services conducted remotely with a trained professional, services you could provide remotely without a sound booth, services that may be typically no-charged)
  • List barriers that reduce children’s access to care via teleaudiology, and advocate for the reduction/removal of these barriers

Assessment Type

Self-assessment—Think about what you learned and report on the Completion Form how you will use your new knowledge.
