Course Description


This webinar focuses on the importance of morphological instruction to support reading and language development for all students—and specific advantages for English learners (ELs) or dual language learners (DLLs) with language and reading disorders. Speakers Sana Tibi and Peter Bowers share evidence-based tools and strategies SLPs can use in intervention to explicitly teach morphology and explore cross-linguistic influences.

Learning Outcomes
You will be able to:

  • Describe the benefits of morphological instruction on reading and language skills for bilingual students with speech-language disorders
  • Identify cross-linguistic differences between English and additional languages that may impact development of language and literacy skills
  • Identify considerations for selecting, developing, and using various activities to assess morphological knowledge of bilingual learners with speech-language disorders
  • Incorporate tools for morphological instruction to into intervention sessions and share strategies with caregivers to support bilingual language and literacy development
