Course Description


As illustrated by the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, audiologists and speech-language pathologists need to be informed about and implement appropriate infection control practices regardless of their practice setting. This course describes the fundamentals of health care epidemiology and infection control, including pathogen transmission, outbreak management, occupational health management, prevention, and management of various infections.

Learning Outcomes
You will be able to:

  • identify the need for basic infection prevention strategies in audiology and SLP practice
  • develop a risk assessment to identify infection prevention strategies relevant to your practice
  • describe the infection prevention strategies that are standards of care in SLP and audiology practice
