These Perspectives (SIG 5) articles focus on 22q11.2 deletion syndrome and the associated communication, feeding/swallowing, psychosocial, and surgical factors associated with this condition.

Learning Outcomes
You will be able to:

  • identify three causes of velopharngeal dysfunction in children with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome
  • identify at least three common psychosocial risks for children and adolescents with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome and at least two strategies used to manage these risks
  • describe the surgical management of palate-related abnormalities associated with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome
