Course Description


These Perspectives (SIG 13) articles discuss the use of high-resolution pharyngeal manometry in the assessment and treatment of dysphagia in pediatrics and adults. Additionally, we present an educational piece discussing considerations in clinical decision-making concerning the initiation of safe oral alimentation in patients on high-flow nasal cannula.

Learning Outcomes
You will be able to:

  • implement guidelines for the assessment of swallow function high-resolution manometry (HRM) protocols
  • discuss management options for dysphagia in adults using HRM facilitated biofeedback therapy
  • identify swallowing metrics and measures that can be obtained using HRM
  • list considerations for initiation of oral intake in patients using high-flow nasal cannula
