ASHA Learning Pass

This course includes four recorded sessions from the 2017 online conference “Communication Interventions for Adolescents and Adults With Autism.” These sessions focus on strategies to improve social and conversational skills for adults and teens with autism spectrum disorder. The conference included a total of 16 sessions, with the broad goal of giving SLPs tools to help students and clients develop or enhance friendships and strengthen work-life relationships to support their academic and workplace success.

The four sessions in this course are:

• Acquisition of Complex Language and Conversational Skills, by Kim Murza, PhD, CCC-SLP

Learning Outcomes
You will be able to:

• describe how learning social skills is embedded into social learning and does not stand out as a separate part of the treatment program
• identify potential issues encountered while developing and conducting social skills groups and how to resolve them
• describe how Theory of Mind can influence intervention strategies
• discuss the role social inference plays in conversational skills
