ASHA Learning Pass

To keep up with the ever-changing health care landscape, audiologists need to highlight their clinical expertise and the specialized, evidence-based care they provide. This course shares self-advocacy tools and resources to help audiologists expand their reach—generating referrals from other health care professionals, getting their services included in specialized care pathways, communicating with administrators to obtain office equipment and materials, educating patients and the broader community, and raising public awareness of the importance of hearing health care. Using case examples, the presenter illustrates how audiologists can demonstrate their value to a variety of audiences and make practice-level advocacy more tangible and less intimidating.

Presenter Information

Julie Ambrose, AuD, CCC-A, is an audiologist and Director in the National Center for Evidence-Based Practice in Communication Disorders at ASHA. She focuses on making research and data available for audiologists to readily engage in evidence-based practice. She completed her Doctor of Audiology degree at Towson University and her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders at James Madison University. Prior to joining ASHA staff, she worked with both pediatrics and adults in nonprofit and private practice settings.
