Description:

SLPs who practice in schools may struggle to develop evidence-based interventions for students with developmental language disorder (DLD), especially methods that are aligned to their state’s academic standards. This webinar will define and discuss DLD as it relates to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) regulations. The speaker will explore curriculum-based language assessment methods aligned to grade-level academic standards and share evidence-based interventions to treat DLD in early childhood and elementary school settings.

Presenter Information

Rachel Powell, PhD, CCC-SLP, BCS-CL, is a speech-language pathologist and literacy lead teacher for Brookhaven School District. She specializes in language development and disorders as well as literacy acquisition and disorders. She has worked in schools for 20 years and received the 2021 ASHFoundation Rolland Van Hattum Award for Contributions in Schools.
