Description

This introductory-level course will provide an overview of working with adult patients in the home health care setting. The speaker will share the basics of SLP reimbursement and regulation in this unique care setting, along with recommendations for assessment and treatment with a functional focus. The webinar will discuss clinical decision-making strategies and suggestions for documentation as well as special considerations for SLPs in the home health care setting, such as safety, counseling, and self-care.

Presenter Information

Megan Malone, MA, CCC-SLP (she/her/hers) is a speech-language pathologist, working as a clinical faculty member at Kent State University and as a clinician/consultant in home health care. She worked for 9 years as a senior research associate/lead trainer at Myers Research Institute, overseeing grants focused on implementing interventions with older adults with dementia. She is the co-author of the book, Here’s How to Treat Dementia (2013), and the textbook chapter "Speech Language Pathology Services in Home Health Care Settings" in Medical Speech-Language Pathology Across the Care Continuum: An Introduction (2023), and has spoken numerous times at several national and state-level conventions.
