Description:

SLPs charged with delivering collaborative services in elementary, middle, and high schools face a variety of barriers and considerations. You may have questions like, how do I find consensus and shared goals with other school team members? How can I find time for shared planning and execution of team goals? How do I overcome barriers to evidence-based collaborative practice? This introductory-level webinar will review practical resources, strategies, and evidence-based practices for collaborative service delivery, including insights, reflections, and tips from a variety of other professionals involved in collaborative practice with school-based SLPs.

Learning Outcomes
You will be able to:

  • List three strategies to facilitate successful teaming in a school setting 
  • Differentiate a variety of models of collaborative service delivery 
  • Determine which service delivery model is most useful given your current school caseload, strengths, and resources 
  • Identify two action steps that address potential barriers to evidence-based collaborative service delivery in your current workplace

Presenter Information

T.J. M. Ragan, MA, CCC-SLP (she/her/hers) is a Clinical Associate Professor and the Clinic Director for the University of Georgia Speech & Hearing Clinic. She is an ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist specializing in pediatric speech, language, and literacy evaluation and treatment. She has experience in private practice; public, private, and charter school systems; early intervention programs; nonprofit agencies; and teletherapy. T.J. is a strong believer in lifelong learning, and she served for 6 years as the Professional Development Manager for ASHA's Special Interest Group (SIG) 1, Language Learning and Education. She has been an SLP since 2002 and has expertise in the evaluation and treatment of late talkers, children with cleft palate or velocardiofacial syndrome, hearing loss, autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and other language-based learning disorders, congenital syndromes, complex communication profiles, and children who require augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems to communicate.
