An Overview of Vestibular Migraine (PD102664)

Course Description

Audiologists help to diagnose or rule out vestibular disorders and make recommendations for referrals and treatment. As part of treatment, quality of life must be discussed. This presentation discusses the current diagnostic criteria used for vestibular migraine, symptoms, assessment protocols, and treatment options. The speaker reviews the relationship between vertiginous migraines and Meniere's disease and addresses considerations for pediatric patients.

Presenter Information

Melissa Newell, AuD, CCC-A (Presenting Author), is a clinical assistant professor in Purdue University’s Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences since August 2015. Previous work experience has been in a hospital atmosphere, providing diagnostic assessments and rehabilitation for all age ranges, including care for infants and geriatric patients. Dr. Newell’s experience includes advanced vestibular assessment and collaboration with rehabilitation providers. She currently supervises and teaches first- and second-year AuD students in the Purdue Audiology Clinic and is the instructor for vestibular coursework at Purdue.
