Turning Negatives Into Positives: EBP Behavior Interventions for the School-Based SLP (PD102654)
As mandated by law, SLPs working in public schools have the responsibility to identify students with learning and behavior deficits, enabling them to receive supports needed to be academically successful, effective communicators. Behavior regulation struggles are common issues facing not only school-based SLPs, but school districts as an entire entity across the nation. This course provides a general overview of behavior and its functions; background on the School Wide Positive Behavior Supports (SWPBIS) framework; and an in-depth look at evidence-based practices (EBPs), reinforcements, rewards, and consequences. Although the target audience is the school-based SLP, the session can provide valuable information for any individual working within the public school system.
This course is a recorded session from the 2021 ASHA Convention Virtual Library (session 2180V).
