Efficacy and Innovations in Telepractice (WEB3420)

Course Description


Technology has irrefutably expanded the availability of speech and language services to populations that are more difficult to serve due to mobility challenges and/or remote locations. The articles in this journal self-study illustrate how telepractice – including mixed-service delivery models that incorporate both clinic and telepractice components –can enhance telehabilitation and telerehabilitation practices across a range of communication disorders.

Learning Outcomes
You will be able to:

  • summarize how speech-sound intervention and parent-directed fluency intervention delivered via telepractice compare to in-person delivery modes
  • discuss maintenance and acquisition of picture naming skills as well as factors that influence success of aphasia rehabilitation via telepractice
  • explain how telepractice can be utilized to train parents in language-elicitation strategies for children with significant language delay
