Summary: When individuals with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) experience changes in speech, they often look to SLPs for guidance and hope. SLPs have many tools at their disposal that can make a dramatic difference in patients’ quality of life. Summary: This session will examine the diagnosis and treatment of persistent postural-perceptual dizziness (PPPD). The session will explore the recently defined criteria for the presentation and symptoms of the disorder as well as describe current and emerging research that is helping clinicians and researchers better understand it. Summary: Audiologists help to diagnose or rule out vestibular disorders and make recommendations for referrals and treatment. As part of treatment, quality of life must be discussed. This presentation discusses the current diagnostic criteria used for vestibular migraine, symptoms, assessment protocols, and treatment options. The speaker reviews the relationship between vertiginous migraines and Meniere's disease and addresses considerations for pediatric patients.

Summary: This course provides a brief overview of the current diagnostic method and its limitations, followed by discussion and demonstration of effective objective and semi-automated speech measures for identifying acquired AOS in both stroke and progressive forms. Summary: This course presents a practical framework for cognitive rehabilitation for patients suffering from a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Clinicians can use the framework to identify functional treatments that are evidence-based, matched to individualized patient needs, and feasible given the time and resource constraints of the current health care environment. The course explores specific cognitive rehabilitation interventions that patients with a brain injury may find particularly valuable and motivating. The presenters use case studies to discuss how to write functional goals and identify optimum outcome measures.
