Summary: Despite the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 stating that people with disabilities should have access to their communities, a critical component has often been overlooked—training emergency first responders to communicate with people who have complex communication needs. Summary: This course features moderated discussions among a panel of clinicians who collectively provide cochlear implant auditory rehabilitation (AR) to patients of all ages. Topics and discussions demonstrate the need to expand and differentiate intervention approaches based on the unique needs of individual patients with cochlear implants. Summary: Background talkers and noise negatively influence speech recognition, but far less is known about the effects of acoustic background competition on speech comprehension and memory. This course discusses experiments that indicate that background voices and noise exert a negative influence on spoken narrative comprehension and memory, even when narratives have been presented at positive signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) that ensured accurate target speech recognition.

Summary: This on demand webinar discusses evaluation and treatment strategies for adults with self-perceived hearing concerns after a head injury, despite normal (or near normal) audiometric thresholds, with a focus on veterans.
