Summary: The theme for this SIG 14 course is multicultural considerations in language assessment and autism screenings. Summary: A significant portion of school-age children speak languages in addition to English. To make appropriate diagnostic decisions when there are few available measures, SLPs must conduct assessments that have good classification accuracy and that are culturally and linguistically appropriate. This session addresses questions about assessments for bilingual or multilingual children, such as: How do we know how to select the best test for clinical diagnostic decision-making? What evidence-based procedures can we use? Summary: Due to the rapidly changing climate in dysphagia management, adhering to recent changes in billing and documentation standards and procedures can be challenging for SLPs. In this on demand webinar, speakers will identify common pitfalls and discuss strategies to meet expectations, so clinicians can avoid unethical decisions, prevent dings, and maximize local coverage for dysphagia reimbursement. Summary: The likelihood of encountering multilingual individuals, non-English-speaking individuals, and non-native speakers of English in the clinic is becoming more common. As audiologists are working with linguistically diverse populations, they may find themselves asking, “How should I evaluate speech perception in my patients who are not monolingual speakers of English?
