Summary: SLPs often work with individuals in palliative care to improve their functional abilities related to dysphagia as well as communication, but the SLP’s role in end-of-life processes is more challenging to define. Summary: This journal self-study course highlights the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on people with aphasia, patients with cognitive communication impairments, and patient-provider communication. The findings can inform decision-making and assist SLPs in optimizing treatment for communication challenges for patients with COVID-19 as well as those for whom treatment has been altered as a result of the pandemic.
