Summary: Audiologists and speech-language pathologists need to be informed about and implement appropriate infection control practices regardless of their practice setting. Summary: In order to select the appropriate treatment techniques for oral and pharyngeal dysphagia in adults, clinicians need to understand the physiology of swallowing. This introductory course discusses the principles of neuroplasticity and motor learning as they relate to the effects of injury to the central nervous system and the potential results of swallowing intervention. The presenter discusses examples of neuromuscular treatment for pharyngeal dysphagia and gives tips on analyzing evidence and applying a theory-driven approach.

Summary: Comprehensive auditory rehabilitation for adults includes communication strategies, assistive listening devices, perceptual training, and supportive counseling. The problem-solving format allows an engaging and patient-centered means of addressing communication strategies and counseling needs. This presentation addresses the organization of problem-solving using the problem-solving approach (SOS); distance, angle, reverberation, and noise (DARN); and thinking, emotional response, and action (TEA). This on demand webinar discusses the acronym MIND (Minority Indigenous Nonstandardized Dialects) and explores the social stigma and unfair treatment individuals often experience due to their language or dialect (known as linguicism).
