The health effects of a fall and the often-difficult recovery affect a patient's quality of life (including the ability to live independently) as well as his or her family. Summary: There is evidence that many factors contribute to the varied performance outcomes among pediatric cochlear implant (CI) recipients, including etiology and quality of the electrode neuron interfaces (ENI). This course examines a study that investigated the intersection of these factors by analyzing the records and device settings for 156 children with confirmed diagnoses of either enlarged vestibular aqueduct (EVA) or Connexin-26 mutations.

SLPs must also exhibit professional mastery of the principles of clinical decision-making pertaining to a continuum of care from intensive skilled treatment to maintenance intervention and termination of SLP care. Summary: This session will examine the diagnosis and treatment of persistent postural-perceptual dizziness (PPPD). The session will explore the recently defined criteria for the presentation and symptoms of the disorder as well as describe current and emerging research that is helping clinicians and researchers better understand it.
