Summary: Early childhood is a critical period for auditory, language, and cognitive development, and early identification of permanent hearing loss provides the opportunity for children to receive appropriate and timely intervention and educational services. Summary: Many older adults experience a growing number of comorbidities and functional limitations as they age. An individual’s ability and willingness to access hearing care is influenced not only by the severity of his or her hearing loss but also by other health, socioeconomic, and environmental factors.
