Summary: What is the audiologist's role in providing care for children and adolescents who have experienced concussion/mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI)? Summary: There are many possible causes for childhood dizziness, which differs from adult dizziness. This session discusses the key components of a pediatric vestibular clinic and its staff, common etiologies of dizziness, risk factors of vestibular loss, and signs of vestibular dysfunction in children. Summary: This presentation describes the case of a 48-year-old female presenting with vertigo and disequilibrium consistent with mal de debarquement (MdDS) following a weeklong vacation cruise. MRI images, audiometric, and vestibular results are presented, as well as an in-depth review of MdDS and Chiari malformation and their impact on vestibular function and quality of life.

Summary: This course explores factors that contribute to health inequities for individuals who report a hearing loss. Individuals with hearing loss report miscommunication, inaccessible health information, reduced awareness by health care providers, and low patient satisfaction while struggling with inadequate health literacy. The course discusses ideas for rethinking and redesigning our health care, through the guidance of innovative clinics and programs, to address these inequities and care for these individuals effectively.

Girolamo and Ghali introduce a student-led grassroots initiative that supports minority students at all levels. Summary: When testing children from linguistically and culturally diverse backgrounds, SLPs can use dynamic assessment (DA) as an alternative to standardized testing. In this course - which is broken into six 5-minute blocks - speaker Elizabeth Peña answers the oft-asked question, "What exactly IS dynamic assessment?" Peña explains how DA is different from other process-based approaches and guides you through identifying individuals on your caseload who could benefit from DA.
