Summary: Congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV) infection ranks among the leading causes of hearing loss in children. Summary: Early childhood is a critical period for auditory, language, and cognitive development, and early identification of permanent hearing loss provides the opportunity for children to receive appropriate and timely intervention and educational services.
