Summary: This live webinar (April 25, 2024, 1–3 p.m. ET) will highlight the behaviors and characteristics typically associated with hearing loss and those typically associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in children from birth to age 10. The speakers will emphasize the unique characteristics that contribute to the dual diagnosis of both ASD and hearing loss. The course will explain the impacts of social determinants of health as they relate to the diagnosis of and intervention for children with ASD and hearing loss.

Summary: The theme for this SIG 14 course is multicultural considerations in language assessment and autism screenings. Specific topics include: assessing article production accuracy in an Arabic-English speaking child as well as examination of the utility of the Vietnamese language version of the Modified Checklist of Autism in Toddlers-Revision with Follow-Up (M-CHAT-R/F) for screening Vietnamese children for autism risk.

Summary: This course—a recorded session from ASHA’s 2017 Private Practice Connect conference—reviews a service delivery model using a series of single-subject research designs to demonstrate the efficacy of telepractice compared to traditional on-site services. The presenter discusses practical strategies as well as common logistical concerns about implementing a telepractice program, including defining on-site facilitator roles and responsibilities as well as detailing what collaboration between the clinician and on-site team looks like.
