Summary: SLPs often operate from a deficits perspective due to the practical need to focus on assessment and qualification for services. In this course – which is broken into six 5-minute blocks – the presenter will demonstrate how to focus on students’ communicative strengths in order to build rapport with students and foster positive, collaborative relationships with other stakeholders. Then the presenter will guide you through actionable steps to practice using a series of checklists to identify a student’s strengths and reflect on the results.

Summary: This course aims to equip school-based SLPs with knowledge and skills to conduct equitable, culturally responsive assessments for multilingual students. Summary: Gene therapy offers the promise to correct inherited forms of hearing loss as well as acquired forms such as noise-induced hearing loss, ototoxicity, and presbycusis. However, there are several barriers that must be overcome before such potential can be realized. This course describes the conceptual framework that governs gene therapy today, reveals how this framework has influenced current progress, and discusses a re-imagining of inner ear gene therapy with the goal of achieving outcomes that are clinically relevant and realistic.
