Summary: This session provides instruction on creating and using readily producible visual aids (i.e., video play models, static play photos, Play Plan) to support executive function (EF), play, and narrative skills in preschoolers with DLD. The session discusses how EF difficulties present in preschoolers with DLD and strategies that can be immediately applied in intervention sessions and the classroom.

Summary: While telepractice and tele-AAC services are often thought of as real-time services provided directly to an individual, asynchronous tele-AAC services that include highly individualized and clinically relevant content can be quite effective also. This course explores tele-AAC services as a continuum of support, highlighting the dynamic role of asynchronous tele-AAC in supporting not only the individual (with implementation and generalization, in particular) but also essential stakeholders, including communication partners. Summary: This course focuses on a meaning-based approach to language assessment and intervention for intentional communication skills in young children. The nonlinguistic and linguistic context support meaning-driven communication expressed with language form from the child. Summary: This course discusses the role of teachers in the referral process for children and adolescents with developmental language disorder (DLD) who speak a nonmainstream dialect. The speaker discusses nonmainstream American English (NMAE) dialects, the role of interprofessional practice within the schools, teacher referrals for special education services, and guidelines that SLPs can use when collaborating with teachers to make appropriate referrals for students with DLD who speak NMAE.
